Unnai Pol Oruvan - Review (Terrorism and its effects).

Unnai Pol Oruvan (UPO) is a tribute to Tamil cinema. Maybe Indian cinema. I would like to add a short review about the movie. Letting out the whole story would make the movie meaningless. Its about terrorism and its effects on the public. Here a common man's aim is to eliminate terrorism. He inspires all to take interest in the welfare of the public and have an eye out for wrongdoings. His way of providing justice may sound a little too much. But atleast he has some interest in the welfare of the public.

Terrorism is widely prevalent throughout the world. None can deny it. Numerous leaders (of nations) have given lectures and speeches that eliminating terrorism is their main motive. How many have actually taken the necessary steps to eliminate it? Not many. Very few indeed. You can count them very easily. Here a common man does something which should have actually have been done by the leaders. A sound and dignified performance from Kamal. The entire film has been taken very well. Some scenes could have been avoided (they drag the film). But kudos to the entire crew for making such a wonderful film.

A wonderful performance from Kamal Haasan and Mohan Lal. They played their roles to perfection. Some would say that the original film, "A Wednesday", was far better. Nevertheless the remake also lived up to expectations. How many of us would fight against people who do injustice? We always ran away from it. We don't care much about what happens to others, as long as it doesn't affect us. We don't even care about the petty wrongdoings happening around us. I am not asking anyone to beat up people who do bad things. None would even have the courage to do that :P. But at least you could raise your voice against injustice. That would inspire others too. How many people can a bad guy beat ? Certainly not many. At the maximum, he can beat up 2 - 3 guys. The rest can still bash up the bad guy. Cant they? But the only thought everyone has is "as long as my family and me are safe who cares what happens to others ". But when the same problem happens to us , we would think why none comes to help us. No hero would jump from the skies or burst from underground to save the helpless people. The society should reform.

The same though of who cares what happens to others exists across the entire nation. The people in Tamil Nadu(TN) would not care what happens in Gujarat. Who cares about the innumerable deaths that take place in Gujarat. Sometimes we would not even know the news of a bomb blast in some other state. Leave bomb blasts, people show scarce interest in issues of floods. Some people do not even remember the dates of such unfortunate incidents. Even i don't know but am taking measures to at least remember certain things. The society always complains about less police protection. But even they are helpless. Scarce in number, they can't provide security to all the crores of people. Nowadays even officials are hypocrites.

Kudos to Kamal Haasan for making such a short film. The film has no songs (except for an album song played initially). Mohan Lal excels in the character of the police man. He is upright, honest and disciplined. The way he deals with certain things is quite impressive. Ganesh Venkatraman essays his role with ease. As for the lady reporter, she was charming and also haughty (even smokes , smoked 3 cigars in the film !!!) . Certain scenes were unnecessary, but still the film ended well. Being very short is a plus point to the film. Its a must watch movie. We waste money in various things. You can waste once in watching this movie. The film's worth your money. Inspite of all this leaders aren't going to rectify their mistakes. Even then small steps will later help in reaching the ultimate goal. Lets try :) .

Save Mother Earth ....

HEAL OUR PLANET EARTH

HOPE

Six Planetary diseases which could terminate life on Earth:-

  • Global warming.
  • Damage to the ozone shield.
  • Human population explosion.
  • Loss of biomass and biodiversity.
  • Toxic pollution.
  • Probability of global nuclear holocaust.

Our planet's slowly dying out. This isn't new to anyone. Is it? Even though almost 90% of the world's population know this fact, not many care to make a conscious and serious effort to save our planet. Many think its not their duty to save our own planet. They think its the duty of the so called higher authorities. But what the people don't realise is that they too can actually contribute so save our planet.

Now lets see for example. Suppose your home's on the verge of getting destroyed by the Government saying that you have built a part of your home on a land owned by the Government. Would you not try your utmost to save your own home? The answer would be a yes. Then why don't people try to save their own planet on which they are residing, which has provided them with so many facilities and which also has nurtured them so long. Every person's effort may be small but ultimately it helps for a greater cause.

The main reason for the day to day depletion of our planet is the rapid advance in technology. Technology has indeed made our life so luxurious. But it has also depleted our planet of valuable resources to a greater extent. Sooner or later our natural resources are going to get depleted totally. This is because we use a large amount of resources , at a rate which is greater than the rate of replenishing them. If the rate of intake continues to be higher and if we don't take proper measures to cut down on our intake, then we would find ourselves in a situation where we may never have any resources at all.

Another disaster which is prevalent right now and which would increase gradually in the coming years is global warming. increase in the usage of air-conditioners Day by day global warming is increasing. Main reasons for this are the depletion of forestry, increase in the number of vehicles,, perfumes etc. Carbon monoxide is a great contributor to global warming. It attacks the ozone layer and also creates a hole in the layer. Hence infrared rays penetrate more easily and heat up the planet. Even refrigerators and air conditioners, which use chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) , have a great impact on the ozone layer. Companies could test their vehicles for emission of carbon monoxide before selling them. Usage of air conditioners and refrigerators can be limited. But the only way to reduce global warming is by planting more trees. That is by increasing the greenery we can reduce the amount of global warming.

Another common disaster is the littering of streets, beaches and so on. Certain ways to help here would be to throw the garbage and waste in a dustbin. Waste plastic items could be recycled and used again. Or the usage of plastic could be limited too. Its not so tough to throw the garbage in a trash can. It would take a couple of minutes.

Another common help which everyone is trying to provide is saving wildlife. India used to have a varied wildlife before. Right now our country has become depleted in wildlife too. Illegal poaching and selling of valuable parts of wild animals has proven disastrous over the years. Wildlife has been the beauty of our planet. Now the countries world wide are making a great effort to save and preserve our wildlife.

So i sincerely request everyone to realise the importance of our planet and lend a helping hand in this global cause. The more safe our planet is, the more healthy our descendants would be. Even if you don't want to help, at least don't spoil our planet more. I hope everyone sees the importance of this cause and helps in someway or the other.

JAI HIND !!!
